Restauração Florestal Onda Verde
Forest Restoration

Planted tree = quality of life

Onda Verde always develops innovative and integrated actions to restore and conserve landscapes and forests in degraded areas in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.

With supporters like you, we can build a better future:

  • Reintroduction of extinct species.

  • Biodiversity conservation.

  • Maintenance of environmental services based on the conservation of resources, such as water, soil and climate.

  • Combating global warming.

  • Society awareness concerning the importance of forest recomposition.

  • Generation of direct jobs, among reforesters, nursery staff and technicians in education, with the training of local labor to fill these positions.

Strategies for Reforestation, plant restoration and landscape recovery

With the planting of native seedlings of the Atlantic Forest, we serve companies and people who have responsibility for the environment and want to contribute to the neutralization of carbon emissions, the conservation of water resources and biodiversity.

We offer the following services:

MANAGEMENT PLAN

From several studies, including the diagnoses of the physical, biological and social environment, Onda Verde develops a Management Plan, producing a document that establishes rules, restrictions and actions to be developed for the natural resources management.

FOREST MONITORING

Mapping of restored areas to monitor the development of planted species and the occurrence of losses and/or forest fires.

PREPARATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PRAD

Degraded Areas Recovery Plan (PRAD) is an Environmental Study with a series of programs and actions that allow minimizing the environmental impact caused by a given activity or enterprise.

BANK OF LANDS

Your company can also use our banks of public and private areas for planting.

FOREST INVENTORY

Basis for planning the use of forest resources, it allows the characterization of a given area and the quantitative and qualitative knowledge of the species that compose it. With it, a forest management and exploitation plan is prepared and conservation, development and use policies of forest resources are formulated.

PLANTING OF NATIVE TREES OF THE ATLANTIC FOREST

Forest restoration with native species is a path to conscious management, valorization of biodiversity and the economic potential of the region’s natural and own products, creating a natural capital to fight the climate challenge, and enrich and protect water resources with social gains.

COMPENSATORY MEASURES

In order to reduce or eliminate the negative impacts, consequences of the implementation, operation, maintenance or deactivation of a given enterprise, Onda Verde develops and applies compensatory measures, especially those involving social costs that cannot be avoided or the use of non-renewable environmental resources.

Structure

CENTER FOR THE PRODUCTION OF FOREST SPECIES OF THE ATLANTIC FOREST

With the capacity to produce 500,000 seedlings/year, which supply the forest restoration projects, it has a greenhouse, acclimatization area, substrate production shed, seeds processing and storage.

It is also an instrument of pedagogical support to environmental education activities, sensitizing students to the role of agents in environmental preservation.

RESEARCH CENTER OF THE ATLANTIC FOREST (CPMA) / LABORATORY OF ECOLOGY AND RESTORATION OF DEGRADED AREAS (LERAD)

Place of production and systematization of knowledge about ecology, restoration of degraded areas, conservation and/or restoration of biodiversity, and environmental licensing processes. It focuses on:

  • Conservation of regional plant species and stability of heterogeneous induced reforestation.reflorestamento heterogêneo induzido.

  • Production of native forest seedlings of the Atlantic Forest.

In LERAD, the research involves physical conditions of the substrate to be recovered, the areas hydroclimatic characterization and socioeconomic aspects.

EDUCATING NURSERY

In an area of 240m², children and young people from public and private schools learn about germination and picking out of seedlings, substrate cleaning and understand the importance of forests, recovery of springs, preservation of groundwater and air quality, and other environmental benefits.
